On February 8th, the Confucius Classroom run jointly by KUST and the Danish education group NEXT Education held its inauguration ceremony in Ballerup, Denmark. The ceremony also opened the testing center for HSK and the website for the Confucius Classroom.
WANG Hua, President of KUST, extended congratulations during the inauguration ceremony on behalf of KUST via a video speech. He hoped that China and Denmark will go forward hand in hand while focusing on the international education of Chinese. He shared that he hopes this will promote international understanding, educational and cultural exchanges and mutual learning, as well as the mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries.
Rasmus Frimodt, dean and president of the Ballerup campus of NEXT Education, said that China's social, economic and cultural development has been attracting more and more people from various countries including Denmark to study Chinese and Chinese culture. Additionally, he expressed his hope that the newly-built Confucius Classroom will help the students and the local communities to understand Chinese language and culture, which can facilitate future connections between Denmark and China. PresidentRasmus Frimodt is also the Danish director-general of the Confucius Classroom in Denmark.
China’s ambassador to Denmark FENG Tie sent his congratulations to the inauguration ceremony via video. He believes that language is the key to understand a country and its people and he hoped that the Danish young people could open new horizons through learning the Chinese language and culture and play the role of bridge between China and Denmark.
On the same day, guests visited the classrooms, reference rooms and computer rooms for online Chinese language tests. They appreciated the paper-cut works and calligraphy of the students. Immersed in the cheerful and harmonious atmosphere of Chinese Lunar New Year, guests and students learned to make dumplings together and then enjoyed their own dumplings as well as other traditional food for the Chinese New Year.
Having established 12 campuses in Copenhagen, the Danish education group NEXT Education is the largest education group for secondary education in Denmark. The Ballerup campus of Confucius Classroom in Denmark was established in January 2021 with the authorization of Chinese International Education Foundation. Up till now it is the only Confucius Institute/Classroom from Yunnan Province in developed European and American countries. Furthermore, it has newly developed a subordinate Confucius Classroom and a Chinese teaching center since August 2021 when its preparation and operation began.
