The first phase of the 15th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP15) will be held in Kunming from October 11th to 15th. According to the arrangements of the Provincial Preparatory Office and the requirements of KUST, the Youth League Committee of KUST earnestly implemented various kinds of voluntary service for the Conference.

Doing a good job in the selection and training of volunteers

The Youth League Committee attached great importance to the volunteer service of COP15, fully displaying the advantages of organizing and mobilizing youth, educating and guiding Youth League members to vigorously carry forward the volunteer service spirit of "dedication, friendship, mutual assistance and progress", and actively participating in the volunteer service of COP15. The Provincial Department of Preparatory Volunteer Service finally identified 540 volunteers to participate in the volunteer service for the first stage of the conference, all of whom came from 13 universities and research institutes in the province, among which 63 were from KUST. At the same time, the province also established a reserve team of 50 volunteers, and selected 10 volunteers with good image and temperament for the volunteer costume show, all of whom were selected from KUST. The work of KUST was highly affirmed by the Provincial Department of Preparatory Volunteer Service. KUST was chosenas the only unit to send volunteers to attend the recording of the 30-day countdown to COP15 in Studio No.1 of Yunnan Media Group.

Coordinating and cooperatingin providing logistics support for volunteers

Adhering to high-level drive. The Standing Committee of the Party Committee of KUST met twice to study volunteer service for COP15. The secretary and the president of KUST personally served as the head of the volunteer workstation at KUST, and the deputy secretary in charge of the Youth League Committee of KUST served as the deputy head of the station. They organized a work coordination meeting to arrange and deploy the work tasks. The vice president who is in contact with the university's Youth League Committee put forward specific requirements for the excellent volunteer service for the conference.

Adhering to coordination. Relevant departments and Faculties, such as the Party Committee Office, the President’s Office, the Publicity Department, the Student Affairs Department, the Graduate Affairs Department, the Division of Teaching Administration, the Graduate School, the City College, the School of Marxism, the Division of Logistical Support, the Student Community, and the Campus Clinic conscientiously implemented the spirit of the meeting of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of KUST. Together, they conscientiously performed the duties of the Work Plan of Volunteer Service Workstation of KUST at the First Stage of COP15, and provided the volunteers with the greatest care. The Youth League Committee of KUST strengthened communication with the Provincial Department of Preparatory Volunteer Service, conveying and implementing the relevant requirements the first time, while performing the duties of the workstation office, and striving to achieve orderly operation, strong coordination and good service.

Learningthehistory oftheCPC and making every effort to create a concrete and vivid ideological and political course

The Youth League Committee(YLC) of KUST seized the opportunitytoparticipate in the voluntary service of the international conference,andset up the temporary party branch and temporary league branch of COP15 volunteers of KUST. Closely combined with learning the party history，the YCL ofKUST carried out theParty day andYouthLeague Day activities such as “the postgraduate entrance examination exchange experience” and “patriotic film viewing and sharing ”. The Party Day and Youth League Day activities are themed in order to do a good job of ideological and political education for youth, while creating a concrete and vivid ideological and political class. TheYLC seeks to implement the process for all youth league members to learn, understand,publicize and implement XI Jinping's ecological civilization thought. TheYLC also seeks to implement the process for all youth league members to continually enhance their confidence in theChinese socialist path,Chinese socialist theory,Chinese socialist system, andChineseculture.Additionally, theYLC seeks to implement the process for all youth league members to uphold the leadership of the CPC, support the socialist system and safeguard national unity.Finally, theYLC seeks to implement the process for all youth league members to follow the Party and aspire to become socialist builders and successors.Through this, theYLC is promoting the mutual integration and mutual promotion of ideological guidance and business work.

With the conference quickly approaching, the YLC of KUST will,under the strong leadership of the party and government of KUST, work with relevant departments and colleges to do a good job in volunteer management and service guarantee. The YLC of KUST willprovide high-quality volunteer services for the first phase of COP15, show the good image of KUST with practical actions, and present a salute to the 13th Party Congress of KUST with outstanding achievements!
