On the morning of 10th December, the launching ceremony of renovating the Center for Chinese Studies was held at Souphanouvong University in Laos. This event was attended by Mr. LI Zhigong, Consul General of the Consulate-General of China in Luang Prabang, Mr. Wisay Samsavong, President of Souphanouvong University, and relevant officials of the Confucius Institute of the university.
Vice President MA Wenhui Delivered an Online Speech at the Launching Ceremony. He hoped that Confucius Institute of Souphanouvong University would tell the stories of China, spread the voice of China, and serve as a bridge of communication linking people in China and Laos.
The Center for Chinese Studies at Souphanouvong University was established with the support of the Consulate-General of China in Luang Prabang, and is now run by the Confucius Institute at Souphanouvong University of KUST. Against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic this year, China and Laos have worked together to achieve good results in the fight against COVID-19. The year of 2021 marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Laos, and the 12th year of the cooperation between KUST and Souphanouvong University. This event has strongly promoted the people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between China and Laos.
