Black-headed gulls have been flying to Kunming to overwinter since October, becoming a beautiful scenery in the Spring City Kunming in winter. Recently, in order to enrich students' after-school life, the School of International Education of KUST organized all its undergraduate students and international students, totaling more than 300, to conduct the Seagull Conservation Campaign at the Haigeng Scenic Area in Kunming in batches.

This event consisted of four parts: firstly, paying a visit to the Haigeng Dam to get a close encounter with the inland seagulls; secondly, publicizing the knowledge on environmental and animal protection and distributing leaflets to the public; thirdly, assisting cleaners to clean up the garbage in the scenic area and beautify the living environment of the black-headed gulls; fourthly, going to the Haigeng Park to enjoy the natural scenery of Kunming.

This event enhanced the students' awareness of environmental protection and relieved their academic pressure, providing them with an opportunity to get out of the dormitory to relax themselves and get close to nature. It also further deepened the friendship between Chinese and foreign students and promoted the exchanges between them.
