On 17th December, the Education Department of the Malaysian Embassy in China awarded KUST the “Education Malaysia Friendship Award” in the “2020 First Malaysia-China (Yunnan) Higher Education Dialogue” held in Kunming.
With the theme of “Strengthen Friendship, Explore Future”, the dialogue was hosted by the Consulate General of Malaysia in Kunming and the Education Department of the Embassy of Malaysia in China, and co-organized by the Department of Education of Yunnan Province. Representatives from fourteen Yunnan universities attended the meeting offline and representatives from eleven Malaysian universities online. The dialogue promoted the mutual understanding and the desire for cooperation and exchange of universities from both sides.
In recent years, leaders of KUST have visited Malaysia and signed cooperation agreements with University Putra Malaysia, City University College of Science and Technology, University Malaysia Sarawak, and relevant local enterprises to further implement the early plan of cooperation and exchange between KUST and Malaysian universities. KUST cooperated with University Putra Malaysia in a short-term cultural exchange program for undergraduates, and a total of 153 students from both sides were selected to participate in the program. In 2017, the National Technology Transfer Sub-Center of KUST was set up in University Malaysia Sarawak, and the “China-Malaysia International Technology Transfer Center for Green Sustainable Development” was inaugurated. An agreement on mutual recognition of credits and student exchange was signed later in 2018.
