Recently, KUST and TU Clausthal of Germany jointly held the Sino-German Forum on Carbon Neutrality and Energy Transition, which was held online and offline.Chair of University CouncilZHANG Yingjie, Vice President MA Wenhui attended the forum online. Professor HOU Zhengmeng from TU Clausthal, Professor WANG Hua, Director of National-Local Joint Engineering Research Center for Metallurgical, Chemical, Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Technology of KUST, Professor ZHAO Zekuan from Development Research Center of the People's Government of Yunnan Province, and relevant experts and scholars in the field of energy conservation, emission reduction and new energy of KUST attended the forum. Many German experts attended the forum online.
The forum focused on the commitment made by President XI Jinping on behalf of China to the international community at the General Assembly of the United Nations held on September 22nd that strives for peaking carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060 and discussed the methods and countermeasures of peaking carbon dioxide emissions and achieving carbon neutrality in Yunnan Province.

Experts attending the meeting agreed that, as a province with a beautiful ecological environment and abundant clean energy, the goal ofpeaking carbon dioxide emissionsand achieving carbon neutrality provided new opportunities for Yunnan's industrial restructuring and new energy technology development and utilization. Scholars from both universities should join scientists from both countries to further strengthen cooperative research and propose action plans for Yunnan Province.
