Since the outbreak of the COVIC-19 epidemic, the leaders, teachers and staff members of KUST's School of International Education (SIE) has attached great importance to the prevention and control of COVID-19 for the international students living on and off campuses. Staff members of SIE took prompt actions to strengthen the implementation of the education and management of international students in accordance with KUST’s deployment of the COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control. The SIE has made various plans to minimize the impacts of the virus outbreak on the academic studies of the international students.

The SIE releasedThe Notice onFurtherStrengthening theManagement ofInternational Students during theOutbreak of COVID-19 Epidemic, which puts forward strict regulations on the epidemic prevention and control. Full use of WeChat groups of international students, "I am on campus APP", and e-mails has been made to publicize authorized information and notices about epidemic prevention and control, The teachers and staff members of SIE have tried their best to help international students overcome a lot of difficulties in their living and studies, sharing experience with them to prevent and control the virus spread.

In order to strengthen the management of international students during the prevention and control of COVID-19 epidemic, the SIE requires them to strictly abide by KUST’s regulations on epidemic prevention and control. The students are told not to gather in the dormitory or leave the campus without authorization, follow the information on the epidemic prevention and control released by the authorized platforms. The access to campus is restricted during the prevention and control period. While students staying on campus are asked not to go out of the campuses, students staying off campus are advised to stay put. The international students who have gone back to their home countries were notified not to plan to return to campus before the university opens for the new semester when the virus outbreak is under control and returning to campus is safe. For the convenience of the international students who ask for leave, the procedure is simplified by the way of electronic signatures of the supervisors or the tutors and the students. Besides, a considerable number of different kinds of emergencies have been handled properly in time during the prevention and control period.

The leaders and teachers of SIE are concerned about the living conditions of the international students staying on campus during the winter vacation. They have visited the international students once every week, and helped solve the difficulties in their daily life, bought surgical masks and thermometers for them. The teachers of SIE helped the international students purchase daily necessities twice a week. During the prevention and control of the COVID-19, the SIE and the University’s Student Community Center have been working closely to help the international students with their life difficulties.

At present, the prevention and control of COVID-19 epidemic for the international students has been steadily carried out and we believe that this coronavirus epidemic will be curbed and controlled. We will make greater effort to accomplish the task of the prevention and control of COVID 19 epidemic for the safety and health of KUST international students.
