The School of International Education at KUST held its first Chinese Classics Recitation and Writing Contest for International Students, in order to enrich the cultural life of international students, improve their ability to appreciate Chinese classics and traditional culture, as well as their ability to write Chinese characters. Recently, the School of International Education at KUST has organized some experts to evaluate the entries primarily according to the type of entry, the method of delivery, and general proficiency. The winners of first, second and third prizes, and several honorable mention prizes have been selected.
(The First Prize: Recitation Work of Invitation to Wine by Song Baoyi, from Thailand, Majoring in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, Class of 2023)
The contest has received more than 60 entries of recitation videos and Chinese calligraphy works made by international students from Thailand, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Guinea, and other countries. Among all the entries, there were recitation works such as Invitation to Wine and Prelude to Water Melody (How long will the full moon appear?), and calligraphy works such as Autumn Thoughts, A Traveler’s Song, and On the Stock Tower.
