On January 9, the Second Session of the Third Meeting of the Council of the Confucius Institute was jointly held by KUST and Souphanouvong University (SU) in Laos both online and in-person. Yi Jianhong, vice president of KUST, Vira Anolac, vice president of SU, and Council members of both sides attended the meeting. 

Yi Jianhong said that, in 2022, both China and Laos worked together to overcome difficulties, and the Institute has made impressive progress. He hoped that the two sides would keep promoting communication and understanding, work hand in hand, and take advantage of the opportunities presented by the Institute and the opening of the China-Laos Railway to further promote people-to-people exchanges and relations between the two countries and the joint building of “the Belt and Road”.

Vira Anolac expressed his gratitude to KUST for its efforts in building the Institute. He emphasized that the holding of the first China-Laos International Transportation Development Forum and Celebration of the First Anniversary of the Opening of the Railway, and the "China Documentary Festival" Global Exhibition: the First Chinese Song Singing Contest had made a significant contribution to promoting the people-to-people exchanges and mutual learning between people of the two countries and motivating people to learn the Chinese language actively.

Song Minying, Chinese dean, and Soudthida, Lao dean, presented the 2022 Work Report of the Confucius Constitute, and the 2023 Work Plan, Budget, and Future Development of the Confucius Constitute, respectively. Members of the Council deliberated on the Report and the Plan.
