Recently, Amphone Sengsavang, a teacher from the National University of Laos, was invited to give a special lecture on the course: Southeast Asian Culture, for students enrolled in 2021 and majoring in Marketing at the City College. Marketing teachers and students from the College and five Lao students from the School of International Education attended the lecture.
Amphone introduced Laos’ cultural customs, industrial and economic development, the campus life and language learning of international students in Laos, as well as other aspects. Student representatives delivered a PowerPoint presentation about Laos studies based on public information. The presentation covered, among other things, a profile of Laos, and China-Laos exchanges and cooperation. Afterwards, Amphone and Lao students commented on the presentation, creating a lively classroom atmosphere. The teacher leading this cultural course detailed the opening and operation of the China-Laos Railway and its role in Laos’ transformation from a "land-locked" to a "land-linked" country and the improvement of understanding between people in the two countries.

Southeast Asian Culture is a quality development course for Marketing students at the College, and a special course for local universities based on the advantages of Yunnan’s location. It covers basic national conditions and the business environment of Southeast Asian countries, and international cooperation they’ve conducted on industrial and supply chains. It will bring more versatile talent to promote cultural and business exchanges between Yunnan and Southeast Asia. The Lao teacher’s lecture, which is also part of this course and aims to promote students' professionalism and international perspectives, is a useful attempt to advance the innovation and development of teaching and research at the College.
