KUST’s 48 Outstanding Economically Disadvantaged Students Successfully Complete Learning Exchange in Laos

From September 28th to October 5th, Kunming University of Science and Technology (KUST) organised a short-term learning exchange programme to Laos, involving 48 excellent economically disadvantaged students and 4 teachers. Zhang Sheping, the Consul General of the Peoples Republic of China in Luang Prabang, Laos, cordially met with the teachers and students.




During the visit, the delegation from KUST engaged in profound learning exchanges with teachers and students from various educational institutions in Laos, including the Chinese School in Luang Prabang, the Confucius Institute at Souphanouvong University, and the National University of Laos. They visited enterprises, such as the Enterprise of Telecommunications Lao (ETL), the Lao Asia Pacific Satellite Co., Ltd. (LAOSAT), the Laos-China Railway Co., Ltd. (LCRC), the Bank of China (Hong Kong) Vientiane Branch, and others. The delegation also visited institutions like the Consulate General of the Peoples Republic of China in Luang Prabang, the Overseas Representative Office of Yunnan Commerce in Vientiane, and Yunnan Construction Investment Holding Group Co., Ltd in Vientiane Center. During their stay, the delegation from KUST explored the historical landmarks in Laos and were invited to participate in the 2nd Chinese Songs Singing Citywide Exhibition and the Mid-Autumn Festival cultural evening party themed the sea mirrors the rising moon bright; miles apart, our hearts share tonight. in Luang Prabang. The students from KUST showcased their talents by performing solo musical instrumental pieces, singing songs, and reciting, demonstrating the vigor and self-confidence of Chinese college students in the new era.



The participating students expressed gratitude for the exchange programme, emphasizing how it broadened their international horizons. They gained insights into the tremendous achievements made since introducing the “Belt and Road Initiative. Simultaneously, this visit ignited students’ patriotism and the desire to better tell China’s stories. It also fueled their determination to excel in their studies and contribute youthful energy to the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.
