On January 19th, The Sino-Malaysian Conference on Environment Protection Waste Management and Technology was held at the Faculty of Environmental Science and Engineering in KUST. GreenNovo Environmental Technology CO.,Ltd and KUST jointly hosted the event, which was also attended by the government of Kedah State, Malaysia. In order to promote exchanges and collaboration between the two countries in the field of environmental protection and enhance resource sharing, the conference brought together representatives from the government, academia, and business sectors, to further advance the transformation and application of scientific and technological development.The attendees included YAB Dato'Seri Haji Muhammad Sanusi bin Md Nor, Chief Minister of Kedah, YB Dato' Ammar Bin Dato' Shaikh Mahmood Naim, former Secretary-General of Kedah, YB. Prof Dr. Haim Hilman Bin Abdullah, Executive Councillor of Kedah and other Malaysian officials, as well as Dong Qingyin, Research Associate Professor, from the School of Environment, Tsinghua University/Basel Convention Regional Centre for Asia and the Pacific, Sun Keyuan, Deputy Director of the Division of Solid Waste Management Center of the Department of Ecology and Environment of Yunnan Province, Pan Bo, Vice President of KUST,Ning Ping, Director of National-Regional Engineering Center (NDRC) for Recovery of Waste Gases from Metallurgical and Chemical Industries, the head of the Faculty of Environmental Science and Engineering of KUST, and the representatives from GreenNovo Environmental Technology CO.,Ltd, which is a cooperative enterprise of KUST.
Pan Bo delivered a speech, emphasizing the importance of environmental protection and the positive significance of this meeting. Haim delivered a speech in which he expressed his expectations for environmental cooperation between China and Malaysia. Ning Ping introduced the preparatory work of the National-Regional Engineering Center (NDRC) for Recovery of Waste Gases from Metallurgical and Chemical Industries, and shared the scientific research progress of the Faculty of Environmental Science and Engineering. Dong Qingyin introduced the main idea of solid waste management and Waste-Free City construction under the framework of the Basel Convention, and Sun Keyuan gave an in-depth explanation of solid waste management and bulk solid waste resource utilization in Yunnan Province. At the end of the meeting, the participants paid a visit to the laboratory and engineering center of the Faculty of Environmental Science and Engineering, and had business discussions. This conference will further promote the collaboration and exchanges between China and Malaysia in the field of environmental protection, and has laid a solid foundation for future cooperation.
