KUST and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Hold Cooperation Meeting

On the afternoon of March 28th, KUST and the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) held an online cooperation meeting. Yi Jianhong, Vice President of KUST, and Mohd Shafry bin Mohd Rahim, Vice President of UTM attended the meeting.



Yi gave a general overview of KUST, its characteristics, and the works on internationalization in recent years. He hoped that KUST could take this meeting as an opportunity to promote cooperation and exchange with UTM in the field of education and science and technology, and the two sides could maximize their advantageous disciplines, and deepen synergy between each other and pragmatic cooperation.


Mohd Shafry bin Mohd Rahim gave a general overview of UTM, including the school scale, predominant disciplines and cooperation with Chinese universities, and expressed the willingness to cooperate with KUST in joint training and joint research programmes.


Heads of the Division of International Cooperation, the Faculty of Electric Power Engineering and the Faculty of Chemical Engineering from KUST attended the online conference. With the Dean of the Faculty of Chemical & Energy Engineering, the Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, the heads of each department and experts and scholars from UTM, they had in-depth exchanges on the requirements and application for Chinese-foreign cooperation in running schools, as well as talent cultivation.





UTM is one of the top five national universities in Malaysia, and it has developed to be a comprehensive research university since its establishment as a technical school in 1904. It is ranked the 188th in the 2024 QS World University Rankings, and the 37th in the 2024 QS Asian University Rankings, and has been awarded 5 Stars Overall Rating in QS Star Rating for years. It boasts six Top 100 subjects in the world, including Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Electrical and Electronics Engineering. In terms of academic exchanges, UTM has cooperated with more than 50 academic institutions in the world, including many world-renowned universities like Oxford University, Cambridge University and Tsinghua University.
