On the morning of June 4, 2025, the "Outstanding Engineers" faculty training program for Lao universities, organized by the Faculty of China-Lao Engineering and Technology of KUST and hosted by the Yunnan Industrial Cadre Training Base, officially commenced at the Lianhua Campus. The opening ceremony was attended by Liu Dianwen, Vice President of KUST, and Khamkeo Hansana, Deputy Director-General of the Higher Education Department under Laos’ Ministry of Education and Sports.
The eight-day training program brings together 30 participants, including faculty members, academic administrators, and researchers in engineering and technology from Laos’ Ministry of Education and Sports, the National University of Laos, Souphanouvong University, Savannakhet University, and the University of Applied Sciences.

Liu Dianwen thanked the Lao Ministry of Education and Sports and participating universities for their trust and support. He highlighted the program's goals to pioneer new models of industry-education collaboration, create a benchmark for China-Laos engineering education cooperation, and strengthen bilateral ties in talent development and educational standards alignment - all while sharing China's engineering education innovations to foster regional development and a shared future.

Mr. Khamkeo Hansana, speaking as a representative of the trainees, expressed gratitude to KUST for its well-designed curriculum and thoughtful teaching arrangements. He stated that the systematic training program—covering cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence, green energy, and materials science—would effectively enhance participants' teaching and research capabilities. He looks forward to cultivating high-quality engineering and technical talents suited for the digital era, thereby further deepening higher education cooperation between China and Laos.

The training program adopts a diversified approach combining "theory + practice," "classroom + enterprise," and "lectures + exchanges." Through various formats—including theoretical instruction, hands-on field visits, cultural immersion, and roundtable discussions—participants will explore cutting-edge engineering theories and practices in smart manufacturing, green energy, AI, mining economics, and metallurgical technology, while sharing insights into China’s engineering education models and project management expertise. Highlights include visits to CRCC High-Tech Equipment Corporation and KUST’s advanced research platforms, offering firsthand exposure to key enterprises, labs, and industry-academia collaboration bases. Cultural activities and field studies will provide a comprehensive understanding of China’s development experience.
This training program, themed "Innovating Industry-Education Integration: Building a Model for China-Laos Engineering Education Cooperation," leverages KUST's disciplinary strengths and leadership in regional international higher education collaboration. By partnering with Lao universities, it pioneers new approaches to cultivating regionally aligned engineering talents through industry-academia synergy, contributing to the vision of a closer China-Laos community with a shared future.
