To help international students efficiently understand and obey Chinese laws and regulations, as well as university rules and disciplines, and effectively enhance their safety awareness and risk avoidance capabilities, Kunming University of Science and Technology (KUST) held the 2025 Safety Education Lecture for International Students in the afternoon of September 25 on Chenggong Campus. School of International Education organized the event.
Prof. Jiang Yehua, Vice President of KUST, attended the event. Representatives from the Entry-Exit Administration, Police Station, and the Student Community Education and Management Center were also present. The lecture covered over 200 international students from Russia, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Pakistan, etc.

The Vice President stated the lecture serves as a detailed "Safety Guidance" and "Life Instruction Manual" for the international students. He emphasized that only by understanding the safety boundaries and legal bottom lines, and mastering risk prevention knowledge, can international students confidently explore the campus, experience the charm Spring City, and appreciate the profoundness of Chinese culture. He expressed his hope that all students would keep the safety knowledge learned firmly in mind and effectively enhance their self-protection capabilities. Meanwhile, the university will go all out to create a safe, warm, and harmonious study environment for the international students.
Officers from the Exit-Entry Administration Detachment of Kunming Municipal Public Security Bureau and local Police Station provided safety education and guidance to the international students by explaining relevant laws, regulations and presenting cases concerning visa applications, unauthorized employment, and telecom fraud prevention. The officers reminded the students to remain vigilant at all times and continuously enhance their safety awareness to effectively prevent and respond to various safety incidents.
Additionally, staff from the Student Community Management Center integrated community regulations into daily residential life details, emphasizing the importance of water and electricity safety for all residents. The relevant official from School of International Education elaborated on the management procedures and processes for international students, covering visa administration, violations of rules and disciplines, routine academic management, and insurance purchase matters. International student representative expressed that every international student serves as a bridge for cultural exchange between China and other countries. He hoped that all students would prioritize their personal safety and contribute to promoting cultural communication.

The Safety Education Lecture for International Students has become an annual "compulsory course" for all international students at KUST. It provides a valuable platform for international students to learn safety knowledge and enhance their security awareness, while also laying a solid foundation for them to safely and smoothly embark on their new academic journey in China.
