On October 27, a delegation from the Scholarship Committee of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo HUN SEN and Samdech Kittiprittbandit for Poor Students (A.M.T) of Cambodia, led by Lau Vann, Director of the Overseas Students Office and Secretary of State of the Cambodian Ministry of Public Works and Transport, visited Kunming University of Science and Technology (KUST). The delegation was accompanied by Meas Sopheak Pal, Consul General of Cambodia in Kunming. Tang Jiahua, Chairman of the University Council of KUST and Jiang Yehua, Vice President, met with the delegation.

Tang Jiahua extended a warm welcome to the delegation and provided an overview of the general information, disciplinary strengths, and internationalization strategy of KUST. He reviewed the collaborative achievements between KUST and A.M.T, as well as the outcomes in cultivating Cambodian students. He expressed the willingness to enhance co-construction and sharing with A.M.T, focusing on deepening practical cooperation in training engineering and technical talents needed by Cambodia, thereby making greater contributions to build a China-Cambodia community with a shared future.

Lau Vann introduced the functions and role of A.M.T and spoke highly of KUST's outstanding contributions in cultivating Cambodian students. He noted that currently, a number of Cambodian students are studying at KUST through the A.M.T scholarship program with excellent academic performance. He expressed the hope to establish a closer partnership with the university to achieve even greater outcomes in training Cambodian students.

During the meeting, representatives from both sides signed the "Agreement on Cooperation for a High-Quality Student Source Base." Cambodian student representatives delivered speeches expressing gratitude to A.M.T for its recommendation and to the university for its cultivation. During the visit, the delegation toured the Yunnan Provincial Key Laboratory of Advanced Equipment Intelligent Manufacturing Technology and the Yunnan Provincial Key Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence.


The visit of the A.M.T delegation represenst a significant initiative by KUST to deepen educational cooperation with ASEAN countries and actively expand its student market in Southeast Asia. This initiative provides a broader learning platform for Cambodian youth, injects new vitality into the internationalization of KUST, and serves as a concrete practice in promoting people-to-people exchanges between China and Cambodia and contributing to build a China-Cambodia community with a shared future.
