On October 24th, the "Forum on the Development of China-IndonesiaPeople-to-People Exchange (2021)" and the Founding Ceremony of the China-Indonesia Industry-University-Research Institute Cooperation Alliance was held in Beijing. The forum was held both online and offline, attended by 200 people from governments, universities, vocational colleges, think tanks and enterprises in China and Indonesia. Representatives from the School of International Education and the Faculty of Chemical Engineering of KUST were invited to the forum.
The forum was themed as "China-Indonesia People-to-People Exchange Model Innovation and Industry- University-Research Institute Cooperation". The aim was to enrich the people-to-people exchanges in China and Indonesia, to promote the pragmatic development ofsuch exchanges in the post-epidemic era, and to help deepen the China-Indonesia political mutual trust and economic and trade cooperation. During the forum, the establishment of the China-Indonesia Industry-University-Research Institute Cooperation Alliance was announced. With the support of the China Center for International People-to-People Exchange, the alliance was initiated by organizations including Beijing University of Chemical Technology and China National Chemical Engineering Group Corporation Ltd. The alliance is bringing together more than 70 universities, institutions and enterprises in China and Indonesia. KUST was among those invited to join the alliance.

In recent years, based on its standing as an industry-university-research institute, KUST has continued strengthening cooperation and exchanges with Indonesian universities and institutions. At present, there are 3 Indonesian studentsat KUST, including 1 doctoralcandidate and 2master’s candidates. The Faculty of Land Resources Engineering and the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Mechanics of KUST have been cooperating withtheIndonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources,Petra Christan University, and five other Indonesian universities, carrying out international exchange camps, study tours and other projects regularly since 2018. After joining thealliance, KUST will uphold innovative ideas, continue utilizing their existing projects in their roles as platforms, strengthen dialogue, and form links of mutual exchange with win-win benefits for students, experts, scholars and enterprise personnel. KUST will make efforts to contribute to cultivating outstanding talents for China-Indonesia cooperation, helping enterprises in Yunnan province “go global”, while enhancing the international competitiveness and influence of enterprises in Yunnan province.
