According to the ESI (Essential Science Indicators) database updated in issue 1 of 2021, KUST’s Botany and Zoology has been listed in the top 1% of the ESI rankings. Up to this time, the number of KUST’s disciplines listed in the top 1% of ESI has reached 5, namely: Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Environmental Ecology, Botany and Zoology, which shows significant improvement in the essential research ability of related disciplines of KUST.
Four of these disciplines that were entered earlier in the international rankings have improved significantly over the same period last year: Materials Science has moved up 45 places, Engineering has moved up 84 spots, Chemistry has moved up 123 spots, and Environment Ecology has moved up 6 spots from when it first entered in September 2020.
Statistics show that there are 11 disciplines from 5 universities in Yunnan Province listed in the top 1% of ESI. 5 of them from KUST, which is the largest number of listed disciplines of the universities in Yunnan Province this year. The continuous increase in the number of listed disciplines and the continuous improvement of the rankings indicate that KUST has achieved remarkable results in its efforts in developing into a "double first-class" university; carrying out scientific and technological innovation; and serving innovation-driven development strategies in recent years.
