Recently, the kick-off and consultation meeting of "the Research on Yunnan Al-Si Industry Green Development Strategy", a major cooperation project with localities and industries of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, washeld in the conference room of Yunnan Research Institute of China Engineering Science and Technology Development Strategy. Director General of Yunnan Provincial Science and Technology Department DONG Baotong, President of Yunnan Provincial Academy of Science and Technology HOU Shuqian, andKUST's Vice President SHU Hongchun attended the meeting.

On behalf of the project team, Prof. NING Ping of KUST gave an opening report of the project on its overview, progress, research contents, ideas and plans.

Researcher ZHANG Fan, the leader of the panel, presided over the expert discussion. The experts discussed the opening report from their professional perspectives. They agreed that this is a significant and well-prepared project whose preliminary ideas and task design meet the target requirements. Academicians DUAN Ning, HOU Li'an, HE Hong, and CHAI Liyuan put forward valuable opinions on the follow-up work of the project.

The project leader HAO Jiming summarized the current situation and industrial development problems faced by the aluminum and silicon industry in Yunnan Province. Then he proposed to carry out a consultative study on the development and innovation of comprehensive treatment technology of flue gas for this industry, so as to realize the efficient flue gas emission reduction from the fountainhead of aluminum electrolysis and silicon smelting and provide Yunnan Province with environmental protection technology solutions for the development of its eight major industries and the implementation of the “Three Cards” strategy (Green energy, green food and healthy living destinations). Besides, on behalf of the project team, Academician HAO expressed that they would fully absorb the valuable opinions of the experts and carry out further research.

Director General of Yunnan Provincial Science and Technology Department DONG Baotong made a concluding speech, pointing out that the strategic consulting research projects should ensure good coverage for all industries and summarize the problems of industrial development pragmatically. He hoped that the project team would achieve high-quality research results, propose feasible solutions for industrial development, and actively contribute to the development of green energy in Yunnan by giving full play to the advantages of its academician team.
